Seven people were killed, three injured in a horrific accident when a pickup truck, driving the wrong way, collided with a group of motorcycles in north New Hampshire on Friday.

The fatal accident happened in Randolph, New Hampshire, just a few miles from Mount Washington at around 6:30 p.m.

According to the police report, a Ford 2500 traveled westbound in an eastbound lane when it slammed several motorcycles on Route 2.

The two people injured were taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital while another was airlifted to Maine Medical Center, Portland. The extent of the injuries was still unknown as of Saturday.

New Hampshire State Police Capt. Chris Vetter said:

"It's tragic. It's tragic for those involved, tragic for the families, so we're doing our job, we're doing our work, and our thoughts are with the people who were adversely affected by this."

Parts of the rural two-lane highway was closed on Friday evening. Police officials said the road would be closed for several more hours as investigators examine the scene for clues about what caused the accident.

In a press statement, state police said:

"The identities of the deceased are still being confirmed, and that information will not be released until next of kin have been notified."

A photo of the scene showed the truck in flames while smashed motorcycles could be seen scattered across the road.

An eyewitness, Travis Hood, said:

"I held his hand, and I tried to get him to -- I'm like, 'Squeeze my hand. Stay with me. You're a strong guy. You've got this.' Toward the end, when the ambulance got there, I could feel him losing strength."

Police also revealed that there had 27 previous accidents on New Hampshire road in 2019.

This accident is the second fatal accident in Randolph after one person died in a crash in February this year.
