A kind, senior YouTuber and a charitable chef, ‘Grandpa,’ who made meals for orphans out of the kindness of his heart, has sadly passed away at the age of 73.
Narayana Reddy from Telangana, India, made a name for himself on the internet by documenting the process behind cooking massive meals to feed orphans and other people in need.
Since he started a YouTube channel called Grandpa Kitchen in 2017, his platform has accumulated more than six million followers, and each video he made gaining millions of views.
Grandpa was a true hero in the community, and grieving members of the community and the whole world have been remembering his generosity and kindness.
In his inspiring videos, which are around 15 minutes long, Grandpa cooked dishes in large quantities such as chicken biryani, American lasagne, and KFC-style chicken.
The YouTuber also taught his followers and subscribers how to make other, more elaborate dishes in their own homes at low costs.
And in every video he made and shared, Grandpa recited his iconic catchphrase: ‘Loving, caring, sharing: this is my family.’
All of his ‘delicious’ meals were served to orphans and the needy in Reddy’s community.
Most of his cooking was done outdoors, often over an open fire. But this rustic quality only enhanced the charitable charm of Reddy and his channel.
The elderly man’s biography on his YouTube channel reads:
“We entertain people by cooking food and donate the proceeds to charities. Our goal is to provide basic necessities like food, clothing, school supplies and birthday gifts to the orphans.”
In his final appearance on his channel (in a live video), a visibly ailing Reddy gave updates regarding his health and the channel’s activities.
Despite his deteriorating health, Reddy seemed in good spirits to hear from followers from all over the world.
And when news of his demise was announced on the channel, his followers from around the globe were devastated, with one viewer describing him as ‘the most wholesome man of YouTube.’
While one person prayed ‘God grants grandpa heaven.’ Another user described Reddy as a ‘pure-hearted person,’ before adding he’ll ‘forever live in our hearts.’
“Been following him for a long time, and I can’t really put into words how painful this is for me.”
Another fan thanked the YouTube sensation for the ‘joy’ Reddy brought to the world, writing:
“Rest in peace, Grandpa… we will miss you and your videos. The way you help others is so inspiring. Thank you so much for the joy you’ve given to others and the joy of your viewers. We are family. Thank you, and we will miss you.”
