As the coronavirus outbreak spreads across the world, and with the World Health Organization officially calling it a pandemic, one student in the UK has been suspended from school for selling 'squirts' of sanitizer to students.

Oliver Cooper, 13, was sent home for capitalizing on coronavirus panic by charging fellow pupils 50p (62 cents) a time to use hand sanitizer.

After hearing about the coronavirus outbreak on the radio, Oliver bought a tub of Johnson's child hand wash from a Tesco grocery store for £1.60 (about $2).

The young entrepreneur, who attends Dixon's Unity Academy in Leeds, offered some to his friends at school, who suggested starting a "business" on the playground selling squirts for 50p each to other kids.

He did just that and ended up making £9 (just over $11).

Oliver said in an interview:

"All I can listen to is the radio. They've been going on about the coronavirus and how important hand sanitizer and washing your hands is."

"So before the bus came, I bought a tub of hand wash from Tesco and offered to it, my mates. They gave me the idea that I could charge for it, so I did."

"Other people at school sell stuff like chewing gum. If somebody wants something, they will pay for it. Loads of people wanted this."

Unfortunately, the schoolboy was busted when he tried to sell some to a teacher at his school.

The young lad said:

"It's ridiculous, really. I asked the teacher if [she] wanted any, and she said, 'No, I've already got some, but you're not allowed to do that.'"

Taking to Facebook, Oliver's mom, Jenny Tompkins, 32, raged about what her son had done.

She wrote:

"This is a picture of my teenage son just getting in from school. Why is he getting in from school at 10:53 a.m., you ask? Schools don't finish until 3 p.m."

"Well, the little turd has just been expelled from school for the day after being caught charging students 50p a squirt for hand sanitizer to protect themselves from the bloody coronavirus!"

"Very hard to discipline this behavior when his dad phones him from work to call him a f**king legend."

Oliver faced a day in isolation and two-day detention. He did get some snacks out of the deal—a pack of Doritos he bought on his way home with the profits. He said he plans to spend the rest on a kebab.
