Laurie Leigh Shaver killed her husband and managed not to get caught for almost three years

Her husband was Michael Shaver, a Disney monorail mechanic who disappeared in 2015, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.

So, how did this Florida woman manage to get away with murder for so long?

His friends were worried

After two years, the late's Micheal Shaver's friends became suspicious.

At that time, the wife pretended to be Mr. Shaver by sending texts and posting on his social media accounts.

While pretending, she also gained sympathy from family and friends, since her husband apparently left her.

At the beginning of 2018, his friends started to suspect that something is wrong, so they went to the police.

Friends did not suspect that the wife killed him. But, the story began to unravel when deputies went to the couple's home in Clermont to perform a welfare check and were unable to locate the missing husband.

Laurie Leigh Shaver became a suspect because she asked the police to leave when they mentioned they wanted to use cadaver dogs to search the property.

Time for a warrant

The police didn't have a case, but they managed to get a search warrant month later.

They discovered remains buried three-feet under a concrete piece around a fire pit in the garden.

The remains were positively identified as Michael, and his death was ruled a homicide.

The creepy doesn't even begin to cover this case. Laurie already confessed to a friend by saying:

"It's not that [Michael's] missing, he's no longer walking the Earth."

According to the investigators, she said there was a dead body on the property during the same conversation.

Even Michael's family believed Laurie

In 2016 message to his sister the wife wrote:

"Everyone just needs to leave me alone just like they did my entire life."

People who knew Michael Shaver didn't believe he would disappear. They explained that he wouldn't leave his kids, or so casually quit his job by text message or tell his boss to keep expensive aircraft tools. Yet, his wife managed to fool them all.

Prior to the murder, the killer wife filed a domestic violence complaint against him.

Shaver is currently at the Lake County Jail on charges of second-degree homicide (domestic violence) and accessory after the fact in second-degree homicide.

Deputies believe Shaver was killed in November 2015, when he was 33 years old. There is no word about their kids, but be sure that this crime will be revisited in one of the crime documentaries.
