A heroic 25-year-old woman has been praised after allegedly sacrificing her own life in order to protect her baby son from bullets shot by gunman Patrick Crusius during the Cielo Vista Mall shooting in El Paso, Texas.

Jordan Anchondo has been identified as one of the 20 victims of the terrorist rampage who died this weekend when 21-year-old Patrick Crusius opened fire on terrified shoppers at a Walmart branch in the Cielo Vista Mall.

Jordan’s sister has since told reporters at the University Medical Center of El Paso that Jordan fell on top of her two-month-old when Crusius opened fire. Her child is currently being treated in the hospital.

Jamrowski told The Associated Press that the baby suffered a few broken bones as a result of Jordan falling on top of him as she attempted to shield him from the onslaught. She went on to explain how the two-month-old is alive only thanks to his mom’s selfless actions.

Jordan’s husband was also confirmed as a victim in the shootings. Andre Anchondo had started a business in El Paso, building things from granite and stone, and made it successful through hard work. He also was on the verge of completing a home for his family.

Anchondo was the mother of three children. All who are now orphaned. Prayer vigils have been taking place since the attack happened.

Crusius has been arrested by police officers, and the FBI is investigating whether the shooting was an act of racist terrorism, after they discovered a ‘manifesto’ belonging to him, in which claimed that the attack was targeted genocide against the local Hispanic community.
