“Never ever give up on God”—woman says as she celebrates her friend who got married at 50 and gave birth at 51.

Nigerian media personality and CEO of Ebonylife TV, Mo Abudu, has recently shared an inspiring story of her friend’s life.

Mo took to her Instagram account to express God’s love and faithfulness in the life of one of her friends, Vivian, who gave birth at the age of 51.

According to Mo, Vivian (a beauty entrepreneur and socialite) met and fell in love with her husband, John Shittu, (a top NFF licensed player agent) when she was 50.

She wanted a child badly but was worried about its possibility due to her age.

Surprisingly, Vivian conceived soon after getting married and later gave birth to a bouncing baby girl, against all the fears they carried about her conception.

Sharing the exciting news, Vivian’s friend, Mo Abudu, wrote an emotional post on her Instagram account.

She wrote:

“You guys got married. The most beautiful wedding ever. Then came the wait for a child and you were so determined about having this child, we were worried because you had just turned 50 then. But you persisted and yesterday to the glory of God, you gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.”

How is it like to give birth at an advanced maternal age?

Hearteningly, it’s not as bad as it may sound, and many women nowadays are giving birth even at their 50s. But many people avoid late pregnancies due to health complications associated with it.

Of course, any pregnancy over the age of 35 comes with the increased risk of complications — muscular dystrophy, Tay-Sachs disease, genetic abnormalities like Down’s syndrome, blood disorders like sickle cell disease, and miscarriages are more likely, according to the Mayo Clinic.

If you conceive past maternal age, Mayo Clinic recommends, “taking good care of yourself is the best way to take care of your baby.” Eat a healthy diet, stay active, make preconception appointment, and avoid risky substances like alcohol and tobacco.
