Russo Brothers Suggest One Of The Current Marvel Characters Is Secretly Gay Carl Fomby Marvels studios will soon reveal the MCU character who’s gay, Endgame directors the Russo brothers have disclosed. Marvel is known for its inclusivity of diversity of being from all over the universe in its movies. However, it has been criticized for the lack of LGBT+ representation in the films. Despite the sexual tension between Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, the Avengers films are on the whole sexless affairs. So, if one of the characters of in Marvel is gay, it isn’t figured in the overall epic arc. The Marvel latest film Avengers: Endgame was the first film from Disney-Marvel to introduce a character who’s presumed to be gay, the role played by Joe Russo, one of the Russo brothers. At a support group, one of the attendees suggests going out for his first date. This was after losing his male partner. Captain America is also among the characters at the scene. Russo appears in the scene, and he’s the character speaking of losing his partner. That “he is gay” is not taken at the slightest note by the media. During an interview with the Entertainment Weekly’s EW Morning Live, Russo explains this gay character is the first “openly gay” in the series. Russo says: “Yes, openly gay. There’ve been insinuations about other characters’ sexuality, but this is the first openly gay character.” The interviewer continues to ask the director “who else is gay?” Russo the stumbles and says: “Uhhh… We’re gonna find out!”“There is a gay character coming up in one of their films, and I think Kevin [Feige, MCU boss] will make that announcement, I’m sure pretty soon.” Indeed, Feige has reported there’ll be openly gay characters in future films. When asked by The Playlist if some LGBT characters are forthcoming, Feige said:“Yes.”And then when questioned if it was someone we have already seen, he added:“Both.”“Ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen,” he said. This means two gay characters are going to be openly revealed soon. But who could they be? Joe Russo had also reported to the media that: “It was important to us as we did four of these films, we wanted a gay character somewhere in them.“We felt it was important that one of us play him, to ensure the integrity and show it is so important to the filmmakers that one of us is representing that.”“It is a perfect time, because one of the things that is compelling about the Marvel Universe moving forward is its focus on diversity.” In the deleted Thor: Ragnarök scene, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie was revealed to be a bisexual. Other than that, it can be anyone.
