Spider-Man Returns To MCU After Sony And Disney Strike New Deal

Spidey fans can now celebrate. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have released the long-awaited announcement.

Spider-Man 3, starring Tom Holland, will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe following an agreement regarding the superhero film's future.

That's right. Just a month after Sony announced it was "disappointed" not to be working with Disney Pictures on future Spider-Man films, Spidey is going to make a return spectacularly.

On September 27, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced they'll be spearheading the production of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming,' which will debut in theatres on July 16, 2021.

Feige said in a press statement:

"I am thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it."

"Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe."

"He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse, you never know what surprises the future might hold."

The deal was signed after a joint negotiation between the top executives from the three studios. Including the head of Disney Studios, Alan Horn, the chief of Sony Pictures, Tom Rothman, and Feige, on late Thursday evening, September 26.

This marks the fourth MCU movie set for release in 2021. Spider-Man 3 will join Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

There will also be a set of Disney+ TV shows. It's set in Marvel Cinematic Universe coming in 2021, made up of Loki, WandaVision, and Hawkeye.

After the deal passed, Holland celebrated the news on Instagram, and fans can barely contain the excitement.

He shared a post, featuring a clip of Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street saying, "I'm not... leaving - the show goes on!"

The return of the beloved superhero film, Spider-Man, to the MCU opens up doors to new possibilities for Marvel Studios. Especially now, as Peter Parker is becoming a well-established superhero in his own right.

Sony owns the movie's rights to the superhero. But he also appeared in films such as Disney's 'Avengers: Endgame,' after a deal between Marvel Studios and Sony.
