woman covers breasts with prosecco and cauliflower as clothing is ‘non-essential’ in wales

A woman protests the Welsh government’s new ruling that clothing is ‘non-essential’ by using only a Prosecco bottle and a cauliflower to cover her boobs.

This comes as the government ban supermarkets from selling ‘non-essential’ items as part of the Covid-19 firebreak lockdown.

Sally Love, 34, from Mold, North Wales, shared a photo of herself on Facebook and then explained why she had chosen to do so.

Uploading the image, she said:

“DON’T PANIC if you see me walking to the butchers tomorrow.”

“I live in Wales, and clothing is non-essential for the next 17 days.”

“Luckily, Prosecco and cauliflower is essential!”

Sally has been self-isolating at home since March due to having an underlying health condition.

She has suppressed immunity. Therefore, she falls into the high-risk category when it comes to Covid-19.

So, she only leaves her house to get groceries and other essential items. For instance, going to the butchers on Saturday mornings.

Sally explained:

“I think the ‘clothing ban’ has really shown us that 2020 could not get any weirder.”

“The government hasn’t taken into account what is deemed ‘essential’ or ‘non-essential’ by the public.”

“In my opinion, the majority of people won’t be rushing to a supermarket to buy clothes with the high street or small business clothes shops being closed.”

“Where I think it has really struck a chord with people is buying baby and children’s clothes.”

“I get they were trying to be fair to the smaller independent clothes shops. But feel this has just pushed people to purchase online if they need something urgently.”

“I don’t know about you, but I’ve never bought a non-essential pair of knickers. In fact, I deem them as fairly essential.”

“It’s not just limited to clothes. I’ve never bought a kettle and thought, you know what, I’ll keep that and use it in a few weeks.”

Sally first shared the image with only her friends on Facebook.

However, her sister told her to make the post public. And it has now garnered a fair amount of attention.

Sally continued:

“I’ve bought it because I needed it, likely that day.”

“It was just a play on words that if clothing is deemed non-essential, then does that mean I have to wear them [the cauliflower and prosecco]?”

“Luckily, a lot of people got the joke, but I have had a few people question whether I own clothes or not.”

Her hilarious post has also brought some good.

Sally added:

“The post online has gained quite a bit of love, with the majority of people commending me on the bravery of going naked.”

“I’ve also received a few messages from people thanking me for baring my scars. I’ve had two bowel resections over the years for Crohn’s disease.”

“I am glad that this has helped some people with their confidence in their scars.”
